Disappointed at water damage to edges of vanity causes swelling and water marks. Not fit for purpose as a vanity where occasional splashes may occur

Reply: We are sorry to hear about your experience with this vanity. It is important that our installation instructions are followed to ensure trouble-free life of the cabinet. These instructions require that the edges of the bowl are siliconed fully around the top edge of the vanity to prevent water sitting on the top edge of the cabinet. Our cabinets are made from E1 moisture resistant board as would be expected. Bathroom cabinets are not designed to withstand constant water contact, but only occasional water contact. Swelling will not occur from occasional splashes but when water is allowed to sit on the edge of the cabinet for a period of time, it will eventually be absorbed into the wood, causing swelling. Sometimes, a knock or damage to the surface of the cabinet material will also allow water egress into the cabinet, causing swelling to occur over time. Neither of these situations are the fault of the cabinet itself.

I had one of these installed and it suffered water damage after only 6 months of light use and despite me wiping up any splashed water. The design allows water to pool on top of the door. The seams on two sides and the door all split and swelled. The two other vanities in my house are from different brands and exposed to much more moisture and water splashes and they have had no issues.

Reply: Thank you for this feedback. We have dealt with this matter through the warranty claim process. We have also adjusted the product design moving forward to have a slight overhang of the basin to the cabinet to further reduce the risk of water sitting on top of the cabinet where it is not sealed with silicone.
